Executive Summery

 

As a part of the requirement of completion of MBA, this report summarizes the internship period of the incumbent in Samtel Global Technologies Limited.

This report tries to focus on the brief orientation on the organization and telemarketing as a marketing strategy for the products of SGTL.

Samtel Global Technologies Ltd. is an existing company, and is one of the leading telecom support providers in Bangladesh and in some other countries. Over the past few years the use of cell phone brought about tangible changes in the lifestyle of the people of Bangladesh. Today, a cellular phone is a mere necessity
Right now SGTL has developed some software for SMS based service which can be used by the entrepreneurs irrespective of size and capital. They can accelerate their speed in work and can make their lives easy by using these software as it will help them in bill payment, in marketing and to build business networking both locally and globally. From Large to medium to small; any organization can get help from these SMS based software.

SGTL has selected a number of tools for marketing their products. Out of those Telemarketing is a new one and they are very interested on success of this tool. Initially they will use this tool only for SMEs and depending on the result they will take future decision.

This report is consists of three parts. The first part is the organizational part where Company overview, its vision, mission, products and strategies are given. The second part is the market analysis part where current market scenario, competitors, total industry analysis and telemarketing theories are discussed. The last part consists of the findings of the survey along with a set of recommendations for SGTL to be followed.

Research shows that Telemarketing can be an adequate marketing tool for SGTL. But they have to plan and establish this strategy with a few standards. They have to realize the needs, perception and value systems of the customers and only then they can go for telemarketing.

SGTL will use telemarketing within the SMEs initially. Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) have historically been one staple of the enterprise landscape within economies globally.  Especially growth with clear benefits for poverty reduction puts a premium on integrating, productively and profitably, small and medium enterprises in the very process of economic growth. SGTL should design their product in such a way that accelerates the growth of the SMEs. SMEs has their own and specific need ands that should be recognized by SGTL. Then SGTL has to present their products and marketing strategies in front of the customers. But if they fail to recognize what the customers really want they are sure to be driven out of the market.


1.0 Introduction


1.1  Origin of the report


The internship report is prepared as a requirement for the MBA degree of the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka. The internship program is carried on to provide the students an on the job exposure and to match up the theoretical concepts with the real life situation. The internship program consists of a twelve weeks attachment period and four weeks to finalize the report preparation. This report is prepared as part of the Internship program.

After completing twenty required courses and the comprehensive exam I was placed at SAMTEL Global Technologies Ltd. (SGTL) for the internship program under the guidance of Khair Jahan Sogra, my faculty advisor. I have joined SGTL Dhaka office for a period of 12 weeks starting from March 1, 2006. I have worked in the Marketing Department under the direct supervision of Rokybul Imrose, Manager (Systems). SGTL is new in Bangladesh. They have a target to develop Telemarketing as a marketing tool for their products. I was placed to develop a telemarketing tool for SGTL which they will use for SMEs. I have analyzed the feasibility, studied the current scenario and finally developed a set of recommendations for SGTL. So my internship project is on “Samtel’s Telemarketing for SME and Its Future Prospect”.

1.2  Problem Statement

Over the past few years the use of cell phone brought about tangible changes in the lifestyle of the people of Bangladesh. Today, a cellular phone is a mere necessity. From a small retail trader at Kawran Bazaar to a remote villager uses cell phone.
